2 Blade Rage or NAP Bloodrunner?
Was using the NAP Thunderheads. My bow is tuned, and had no accuracy issues, however looking to try something new. Any experience?? The blood runner claims Field Point accuracy, however it still has a 1" cutting diameter exposed in the closed position, so this tells me it would act more like standars fixed blade head. The rage seems like it may be more foregiving in terms of accuracy, however I am concerned about penetration on quartering shots, or running into a twig.
any help appriciated.
I haven't tried the blood runner yet, but did read some reviews that stated the pin holding the blades in place would break at times even when they were shooting them into styrofoam targets.But I have no personal experience with the blood runner.
However I have had nothing but bad experiences using the Rage Two blade head. The pin holding the blades in place broke off when shot into a deers rib cage. This resulted in no blades on the broad head as it entered the deer.I recovered my arrow and it did not have a blade on it.I did not recover the deer, and the shot was perfect.
I had bought the two blade because a friend was working as Bow Tech at the archery shop and advised me not to buy the 3 blade Rage because they had too many complaints about the 3 blade
heads not opening up at all on a deer.
I have found The NAP Thunderhead, the Muzzy and the Slick Trick to be totally dependable. Super blood trails, total pass through on well placed shots, accurate, and no mechanical problems of any kind
There are several video's on the net showing the best broad heads and the worst when shot into a metal drum. The Rage will not penetrate even one side of the drum and is damaged immensely in the process. There are some that penetrate well but are destroyed in the process. But the one of the heads that do both, penetrate both sides of the drum and suffer no damage is the Slick Trick.
If I was forced to hunt with one broad head for the rest of my life, I would choose the Slick Trick.
