Analyzing the Trophy Ridge Meat Seeker Broadhead

When it comes to bow hunting, a lot of the equipment is expensive enough that You Can't try most of the things out there on the market. It just isn't feasible to try out a new bow every year. One of the things that you can try out new every year is broadheads. They might be the most important part of the equipment. It is the first thing that flies through the air and it is the first thing that strikes the animal. The last new broadhead that I tried out was the Trophy Ridge Meat Seeker. This is a Mechanical Broadhead that really shows some improvement in the broadhead technology and is highly effective at taking down game.

What Makes it Work

The premise behind this broadhead is that there is a piston hammer that shoots forward when the tip impacts the target and sends the blades forward. The result is a one and a half inch entry wound. Because of this system, less kinetic energy is lost and than translates into more clean pass-throughs of your arrows. All of this will lead to better bleeding, improved blood trails and less chance of losing equipment and your target as well. The blades are fully deployed when they impact the target. This creates a massive wound channel.

The Meat Seekers do not suffer from deflection problems. Every shot goes in straight and the odds of getting a fatal shot on the first pull are much better. As they are more devastating, they are a more ethical kill. Not many deer are going to make it more than twenty or thirty yards after getting hit with one of these, especially if you hit them in the right place. That part is up to you, but you will be aided by the fact that shooting with these broadheads feels like you are shooting with your field tips. Accuracy is excellent.

There are other similar broadheads out on the market like the Rage Broadheads. They can deliver a devastating blow just like the Meat Seekers but the problem with them is that they are not always so quiet. The system that they use to hold the blades in place sometimes allows the blades to move and make noise. It only takes one missed target because of this to make you not want to take them out ever again. On occasion I have also heard that the Rage Broadheads have a tendency to get out of place in the quiver.

First time out with the Trophy Ridge Meat Seeker broadheads I got a very good shot at a doe at about 50 yards even. The shot hit just back of the shoulder, and it went through both lungs. The arrow was a clean pass-through and I am pretty certain that I hit a rock coming out the other side. The blood trail was great, not that I needed it. The tip was also still intact. It didn't take long to win me over. These are well-designed broadheads.

I have a 1853 -O Quar. Dol with arrows and rays, can someone tell me how I find what it is worth?

Fair shape. Can read everthing on the quarter. A little tarnished around the edges, ridges are still good, eagle is sharp and clear
