Japan used apples & Hiba wood for firing in kiln. The firing cycles range from 2-5days & fired upto 1,250 centigrade or above.
The pyrotechnic ability of wood makes it a better choice then the other methods like gas or electric firing. Though wood firing is a lengthy procedure but is preferable. The evidence of ash deposits, the thermal shock, charcoal inclusions gives a rich look to the ceramic pots.
Potters have a symbiotic relationship with the nature. In the process of wood firing many pieces would lost, break but the left one gives a rare and quite beauty having a magical visual effects.

I want to make a bow and arrow the old fashion way but with wood you buy in a store, any tips?
it needs to be a Long Bow, that i can carve easily but can afford to get dropped now and then.
