Bow Archery Set
What bow should i get?
I joined the archery program at school and really like it. I'm going to buy a bow for christmas i was thinking about buying the bow we use at school (genesis) but i was wondering, as i get better would the bow be able to keep up? If you think i should buy a better one which one should i buy? I can spend 300-350 dollars max. the bow i use at school is set at 25 pounds but its really easy to pull back so do you think like 50 pounds is good? thanks!
I'm looking for like a competion type bow i think, the ones with the wheels.
Not to upset any other answerer's but don't buy a Mathews for a First bow. They are not cheap and you have to realize that the Arrow Rest, Sight, and any other goodies will add to your bill. Even if you find one at $350, that is just a bare bow. It will still cost you $100 - $300 ++ for all the rest. And we haven't even considered Arrows yet and those can run you from $60-$120 depending if you get Aluminum or Carbon.
PSE, Martin, Browning, produce quality bows at a economical price. Mathews, Hoyt, High Country, Oneida, are worth the money, but for a new archer, bit pricey.
Personally The best bow for a new archer would be a Martin X-150 Recurve.
Whatever you do, stay away from the Big Box Sporting good stores like Gander Mountain, Bass Pro Shop, Cabela's. Go to an Archery Pro Shop. If the staff is worth their salt, once they know your budget, They will fit to you a good bow. Shoot as many as You Can to see what suits you.
